Who is Joris?

My name is Joris Manenschijn, I am 26 years old, and I live in Hengelo. If you ask me if I’m a creative person, my answer isn't an immediate yes. I don’t paint, and although I can draw reasonably well, my strengths lie elsewhere. I am incredibly curious about creativity. How do ideas originate? Why does one person think so differently from another? And where does that urge to create something new or tell a story come from?

That curiosity is a common thread throughout my life. In my work as a marketer at Limesquare, I focus daily on strategy, communication, and devising creative solutions. Additionally, I run ArteSelect, an art business that connects artists with art lovers. In both roles, I am surrounded by people who shape creativity in their own way. That is perhaps what I find most beautiful about creativity. There is no single right way. Everyone has their own perspective, their own story, and their own way of looking at the world.

That is precisely why I enjoy seeking out the company of creative people. Not because I have the best ideas myself, but because conversations with creative thinkers challenge me to look further. A conversation about art, design, music, or culture can easily lead to a completely new insight. That is what makes creativity so valuable to me. It brings people together, encourages reflection, and opens doors to new possibilities.

For me, Museumnacht Enschede is a wonderful example of that power. It is an event where art, culture, and creativity converge, and where people are challenged to look at their surroundings in a different way. At the same time, it is a place where creators, organizations, and visitors meet and inspire one another. It is that exact combination that appeals to me so much.

As an ambassador for Museumnacht Enschede 2026, I hope not only to get others excited about the event but also to discover new people, ideas, and perspectives myself.
