The night programme

Voor deze expositie, speciaal gecureerd voor de museumnacht, brengt Tankstation Cultureel Vulpunt drie audiovisuele kunstenaars samen. Yolanda Camilleri, Lokin en Loekie Schepers onderzoeken alle drie op hun eigen manier het medium ‘bewegend beeld’, met drie unieke resultaten als gevolg. Deze expositie is alleen tijdens museumnacht te zien in Tankstation, van 19:00 tot 23:00.

For this exhibition, curated especially for Museumnacht, Tankstation Cultureel Vulpunt brings three audiovisual artists together. Yolanda Camilleri, Lokin and Loeke Schepers researched the medium ‘moving image’ in their own way, with three unique outcomes as a result. With her warm and moving singing, DIVYA strives to promote connection and empowerment through her personal experiences and reflections. Originally from Curaçao and now based in Enschede, the Netherlands, she embodies a melting pot of cultures. With a Curaçao mother and an Indian father, she draws inspiration from her diverse background. DIVYA infuses her pop music with elements of Soul, RnB, Blues and Jazz and occasionally weaves her Antillean roots by writing songs in her native language, Papiamentu. Her music can be compared to India Arie, Lianne La Havas and Olivia Dean.

Everything is perspective and that's why you'll hardly ever hear Merlin Dewasme (2004) give an opinion. On his bike without earphones, with an acoustic guitar on his back, he observes and lets everything that is real make him think.

This results in accessible Dutch-language Story Pop, whose fragments on the ground form into a glass half full.

There are posters of Nirvana, Bløf and Post Malone in Merlin's bedroom. The room is dusty except for his desk, which is spotlessly clean.

Talented young bands from the KaliberPop School and musical talents from Studio15 will be on stage in Metropolis's Saxion hall tonight and show what they've been busy doing in the rehearsal room! Have you written a song or do you want to start with it? Or do you have a question about your voice and how best to learn to sing? This open coaching gives you the tools and tools to improve your songwriting and singing skills from an experienced teacher.

Just starting out on your instrument or if you've been playing for a few years, come in for a coaching session by multi-instrumentalists Joey Van Gelden and Dito Beaumont! They'll give you tips and tricks you might not have thought of before to level up on guitar, drums, bass or keys!

For Museum Night, we will transform the entrance and hospitality of De Museumfabriek into a vibrant business location. At De Museumfabriek, you can also get started with various Glow in the dark activities yourself! Fun for young and old! Face paint each other with Glow in the dark face paint, play a Glow in the dark game or string your own Glow in the dark bracelet! For the rest of the evening, you steal the show in the dark...

This year, things are going to be a bit rougher and rawer at Tubantia in the Balengebouw. We're not going to Dance on the Newspaper anymore, but Dance Under the Newspaper. A kind of house bunker is being created on the low mezzanine of an old textile building. The guys from Das Hausfest make The Tub Club out of this once. With Stanislaus specialty beer.

A brand new and special exhibition: the most beautiful, extraordinary or dramatic front pages of De Twentsche Courant Tubantia come back as art.

Life-size printed on aluminum makes the first man on the moon or the FC Twente championship even more impressive. Or what about the F16 that crashed in a residential area in Hengelo, but miraculously didn't hit anyone? Look around, marvel, and bring back memories.

The vop - as the front page on the newspaper is called in technical language - is playing a leading role this year anyway. This is because you can have a front page of your own birth day printed exclusively during Museumnacht this year. Who wouldn't want that on the wall at home?

Visit the exhibition during the museumnacht Philip Vermeulen. Chasing the Dot!In his artworks, artist Philip Vermeulen explores the foundations of human perception through movement, light, vibrations and sound. What does light do to our brain, how do we register movement, what does sound feel like, and do we actually see what we think we see? Vermeulen's space-filling installations, which he himself calls “hyper sculptures”, seem to transform before the viewer's eyes, like a dreamlike trip.

Are you a hidden singing talent, but not ready to perform in front of a large audience yet? Then come and sing karaoke in the greenhouse in the courtyard! Once the door is closed, no one hears you, but be careful not to shake the glass walls with your high notes. Sing your favorite “Kas-kraker” and amaze all your friends with this hidden talent!

Please note: the greenhouse can be reserved for 30 minutes during Museum Night. Register at the entrance desk, alone or with a group of maximum 5 people.

This edition, we do not have one DJ, but an entire DJ collective that provides the music. ITMOTR will play a B2B set (back-to-back) with various DJs. In a B2B set, DJs share decks and alternate to create a unique musical experience together. Exactly who is running remains a surprise. Keep an eye on our website and Instagram for updates!

Looking at art boring? Not when you play Gotta Catch em All. At the entrance desk, pick up an answer sheet with details of artworks. Then try to find out as quickly as possible which details belong to which works of art in the museum. Did you find them all and entered the correct title on the online answer sheet? Then get a chance to win one of our great prizes!

GRITTY comes with a mix of UK Garage, Baile Bass, DubStep, Grime and Hip Hop! This breath of fresh air in Enschede's nightlife has already turned the Metropolis's Small Hall upside down. During museumnacht, DJs 21L and Luw will provide the Metropool basement with the necessary vibes! Both DJs are welcome guests at radio shows, club stages and festivals such as Downtown, Under the Radar. Transform Studio11 into a small but nice party studio for the occasion, with an extra thick sound system and lighting!

Als bonus word je door toneelgezelschap Hydra van plek naar plek gebracht! Aan het eind is er een gratis cocktail.

Tijdens de Museumnacht kan jij meewerken aan een uniek participatieproject; Draden van het Overijsselse Slavernijverleden. Het project brengt het Overijsselse slavernijverleden op een heel bijzondere manier inbeeld. Kunstenaar Amber Hyacinth heeft de sporen van deze pijnlijke geschiedenis prachtig in beeld gebracht in een ontwerp voor een wandkleed van maar liefst 35 meter lang. Wat dit project bijzonder maakt, is dat iedereen, van jong tot oud, van inwoner tot bezoeker van de provincie Overijssel, kan mee werkenaan de voltooiing van het wandkleed. Dus jij ook tijdens de Museumnacht!

Entirely dedicated to the Doublet exhibition, featuring work by artist Kira Fröse who uses a wide range of everyday objects in her work, such as a power strip, a watering can or a toilet bowl and bathroom tiles. Fröse reproduces the objects that she reproduces in a fused form in porcelain and ceramic.

Get inspired and make your own fun tile with everyday things, let it dry and show the tile in our drying tile exhibition and pick it up again after The Museum Night.

On this evening, Cube is organizing an ongoing activity from 19:00 to midnight. Visitors can walk through the Cube after dark, where an extraordinary light and audio show awaits them. The light and sound created by Ilja and Titus are perfectly coordinated and respond to each other for a unique experience.

For younger visitors, there is the option to traverse a bit on a wall, using handles that are visible in the dark. Meanwhile, they can also watch as boulderers work with headlights on challenging climbing routes, making for an exciting spectacle during their walk.

The bar is also open at Cube.

The Kaliber String Players is an experienced style ensemble that plays the stars of the sky! The students play violin, viola, cello or double bass and make every performance a musical party.

Explore different making techniques and technologies like laser cutting and the Ozobot by going through four different challenges in our FabLab. Come with your family or group of friends and solve riddles with our tech tools to reveal the final word that will complete the game. Groups can be from 2 to 6 people and must have a booked time slot.

During museumnacht, Beatmaker and Producer Ravi Odaira will work with museum night visitors to build a track in the recording studio. In five separate sessions of one hour, Ravi takes you on a creative quest that involves sampling, cutting and pasting with the input of visitors. So can you play an instrument, sing, a few bars, rap, or do you just want to see how people work in the studio? Then stop by Studio15 in the Metropool basement and participate in the Collaboratorium.

New Jack Swing is a cool dance style from the late 80s and 90s, where R&B, hip-hop and funk come together. It's energetic, with fast, sharp movements and rhythmic steps that match the music's tight beats. Famous artists like **Bobby Brown** and **Janet Jackson** made this style popular, and it has breakdance and popping influences. New Jack Swing is perfect for those who love funky moves and old-school vibes!

Marsha van Leersum

Sticky Stones investigates the interdependence between people and the environment, using rocks as a focal point for reflection. Rocks are often overlooked as inanimate objects in our world, but have their own life cycle — they are born, move, age, and even transform.

Sticky Stones invites participants to engage with rocks, take on a more responsive role and explore how we meet and care for these seemingly inert entities. The project is structured around a two-day workshop, an expedition, a lecture and an installation. During the workshop, participants were introduced to a specific stone (called their companion) and entered into a sensory and emotional relationship.

The workshop took place in the local woods of Hof Espelo (Enschede) and explored ground exercises and practices to reflect on awareness of someone's environment. The second workshop expanded the relationship by encouraging participants to engage in physical and sensory research while deepening their understanding of and connection to the participating rocks. The installation consists of soft textile sculptures that look like stones, in a transformation where the roles are reversed: instead of participants holding and caring for the stones, they now “hold” them. The soft sculptures invite visitors to sit down, relax, and engage with the grounding presence of these rock-inspired shapes. Through these practices, Sticky Stones shows what happens when we slow down and become more attentive.

Karl Schulze

In this work, Karl Schultze began with a question. Usually when you scan something, you have to go to the scanner with an object and place the object on top, but what happens if you take the scanner to something instead? After buying a second-hand flatbed scanner, Karl was able to take it with him on excursions, scanning the floor, grass, pieces of moss - and wondering how to further develop this idea. When he brought the device home, the big tree in the front yard of his family's yard became the focal point. He had always stood there and represented a sense of home. He made 90 scans, starting from the roots to the first larger branches, and repeated them all around, realizing that the more he scanned this sense of home, the further away it became. This intimate process of capturing a tree became an act of capturing memories and emotions, and so the work became a reminder of memory.Now, back home, the tree is more present than it ever was.

Step into the world of Theatermakerij, where you can transform into a real pop star for one night! In this interactive multimedia installation, pick your favorite karaoke song and put your head in the spotlight — literally!

While you sing along, spectators can choose a matching music video that plays on a big screen, starring your head. For a moment, you'll be the star of your own music video, complete with spectacular visuals and compelling beats.

Kafka's story 'Het Gebouw' is a parable about a society that creates fears by trying to control them. The work that Kafka wrote while he was sick was only published years after his death. Now, adapted by Silas Neumann and Wieger Steenhuis, the writer's diary entries are linked to fragments of the original story, supported by soundscapes and compositions by Ward Meijer.

The combination of model building and new media gives the audience the opportunity to experience the story from a miniature landscape with VR glasses, where, like the protagonist, they may begin to doubt their own perception. This extraordinary interplay of art forms promises an immersive journey into the mind of Kafka herself.

Eight people can watch the performance per round. Admission tickets will be distributed half an hour before the performance.
